Michele Savino was born in Vasto (Chieti Abruzzo Italy) 14 September 1938.
He migrated to Australia as a young man (sponsored by his brother in law Liberatore Colangelo) arriving 28 March 1960 on the ship Oceania.
He went to work in Alice Springs and then decided to go to the opal fields in Coober Pedy with his brother in law Natalino Colangelo, where they did well.
He then decided to go to Perth where he was involved in a variety of activities.
Michele married Concetta Savino and they have two children Antonio (1968) and Stella (1970).
