Giuseppe Palizzi
The precursors of the great migration
(Lanciano 1812 +Parigi 1888)
By Paolo Calvano
He was born in Lanciano and moved to Vasto with his family when he was three years old. Here from a very young age it came to light and he began to show his artistic abilities. He attended th4e Academy of Arts in Naples and, intolerant of rules and mannerisms, in 1844 decided to move to Paris. He lived in Fontainebleau and there dedicated himself to painting directly immersed in nature. Until his death undertook intensive artistic activities in the French capital obtaining acknowledgements and honours and entering into contact with the main artists and intellectuals of the period.
Significant was the friendship with the photographer Nadar and with many painters of the impressionistic circle. His paintings are in the principal European galleries and in private collections.
